Founded in Portugal in 2026, Extrar is an independent publishing imprint devoted to essays and contemporary thought. It was created to publish a small number of carefully chosen books, with visual care and respect for the reader’s intelligence.

Its roots are Portuguese, but its ambition is European. Extrar seeks to connect authors, ideas and readers across countries, publishing in several languages and favouring subjects that cross borders.

The catalogue grows slowly and coherently. Each edition should bring a distinctive perspective to the European conversation on culture, society and human experience.
